2013

Unitized Axle Shaft Seal is launched

National Unitized Axle Shaft Seal for Ford  Super Duty 4WD front axles that eliminates the need for an additional installation tool launched.

2010

Upgraded to new Dynamic Edge® technology

Upgrade of the 5 top selling National Red 37 Series oil bath seals to the new Dynamic Edge technology. The design incorporates a pumping feature that deflects contamination away from the face of the seal.

2009

Pinion Seal and Axle Flange Gaskets launched

National unitized pinion seal with Sure-Lock® I.D. ribs for popular Meritor® axle applications launched. National/FelPro® co-branded axle flange gaskets with aramid fiber facing material, PTFE anti-stick coating and a laminated solid steel core launched.

2004

Cast aluminum hub caps launched

National cast aluminum hub caps with six different designs launched.

1997

Expanded capabilities

Federal-Mogul acquires T&N and expands its manufacturing capabilities. Included in the sale were oil seal manufacturing facilities in Athens, Alabama, USA (established 1973) and Naucalpan, Mexico (established 1954).

1995

Rear Crankshaft Oil Seals launched

National rear crankshaft oil seals with PTFE sealing technology for popular Chrysler, Ford and GM passenger cars and L/D trucks launched.

1993

Gold 38 Series OIl Bath Seals launched

National Gold 38 Series oil bath seal with PTFE sealing technology, patented lay-down bi-directional sealing lip and dual wall construction launched.

Red 37 Series OIl Bath Seal Launched

National Red 37 Series oil bath seal, a refinement of the AOBS design, with a spring-loaded nitrile main lip, unitized construction for greater structural integrity and a one piece sleeve launched.

Improved innovations

National advanced oil bath seal (AOBS) design that incorporates improved contaminant exclusion with an independent lip and spring and the introduction of Sure-Lock® I.D. rib.

1985

Expanded capabilities

Federal-Mogul acquires the Mather Company, a manufacturer of high performance sealing products and a leader in PTFE technology.

1984

Rubber On heal upgrade

National rubber on heal upgrade to SIR oil seal for enhanced contaminant exclusion and alleviating bore imperfections launched.

1971

SIR and Redicoat launched

National Spring in rubber (SIR) oil seal with a unitized design, nitrile rubber lip and Redicoat® bore sealant launched.

1956

FMMP acquires National Motor Bearing Company

Federal-Mogul acquires National Seal Division of the National Motor Bearing Company. National was one of the country's largest manufacturers of oil seals and the acquisition earned Federal-Mogul its first listing among Fortune magazine's 500 largest American companies. Included in the National sale was the Van Wert, Ohio, USA manufacturing facility that was established in 1942
